Examiner/Tec Team Training
Skiing is definitely a winter sport and not for sissies. Monday was brutally cold, skiing in a cloud of fog with high winds. As you made your way down the hill a thick layer of ice would form on your goggles so you would not see a thing. Gives me more empathy for my visually imparted students. I made it all day out on the hill and with a little help from a friend got my feet out to the torture chambers (ski boots). I may have only sacrificed a toenail on this first day of the season. My back held up great. Today it was dumping and dumping snow so hard at times you could only see a few feet in front of you. We were out from 10:00-1:30 with only a 5 minute break. The snow was great freshies every run. But my legs felt like Chinese’s noodles, not in as good of shape as I would like but I will get there. By the time I got to the car it was buried in 2 feet of snow and I had a 3+ hour drive a head of me.
In and out of 4X4 all the way up HWY 395 from Mammoth to South Lake Tahoe thank goodness I bought new tiers for the car last week they were the bomb. As for the training we stood on the hill, in true ski instructor fasion, and talked a lot about skiing and examinations for our Adaptive Candidates. All good stuff and always a great review to kick off the season.
