Old Myers Grade to Holly Grade- 9 miles

This ride starts off with a 4-mile climb up Old Myers Grade on pavement to the top of HWY 50 1100 vertical up and then down Holly Grade. This is a very technical and steep single track with lots of rock staircases and a huge cliff on your left hand side the whole way. I did a lot of walking down. The ride turned into a social event as we ran into people we know from the start to the finish
When we got to the bottom and were riding out South Upper Truckee there were people on the side of the road pointing up to the top of the Grade. 2 weeks ago a woman intentionally drove her car off the road at that spot and today someone decided to jump off. We met up with a highway patrolman and got all the details. HWY 50 would be closed in both directions for a couple of hours. That is the link to get in and out of South Lake Tahoe. So all those trying to get out after the long weekend would have to sit and wait for this person to be rescued.
